Political Action Center
Welcome to the Suburban REALTORS® Alliance Political Action Center. This is the section of our website that will help you take action on issues that are important to you either as a professional REALTOR® or consumer of real estate.
The Alliance was founded upon the principle that active involvement in the political and legislative arena is an inherent responsibility of all citizens and industry.
Further, our shareholders recognize that the collective strength of their memberships working in unison is far more effective than the efforts of a single individual or organization.
Through interaction with public officials, political organizations, community groups and other interested parties, staff and REALTOR® volunteers work to ensure that public policy decisions are fair to the real estate industry and the consumers it serves.
Grass-roots [Origin: 1910-15]: People or society at a local level rather than at the center of major political activity. The groundwork or source of something.
Pennsylvania Transfer Tax Increase
In June of 2007, the Pennsylvania General Assembly considered options to fund the Commonwealth's ailing mass transit systems. One prospective option would have increased the statewide realty transfer tax (RTT) from 1.0% to 1.9%, with the additional 0.9% dedicated to mass transit funding. Another option would have given county governments the authority to increase the local RTT and dedicate the additional percentage to mass transit. The final bill did not include a local option to increase the realty transfer tax. Thank you to all the REALTORS® who used the PAR Legislative Action Center to send a letter to your legislator. More.
Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code
In the 1990s there was a concerted effort by the Pennsylvania Builders Association to provide consistency among local building codes by advocating the enactment of a statewide building code. More.
Election 2008 - Voter Guide to REALTOR-Friendly Candidates
REALTORS® are committed to supporting political candidates that impact public policy for the benefit of the real estate industry and the protection of private property rights. One of the important ways that REALTORS® demonstrate this support is through the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC). Decisions regarding which candidates receive RPAC contributions are based solely on their positions on real estate issues, rather than their political affiliation. More.
